As a dedicated follower of the Tiger Woods PGA Tour video game franchise since 2003 on the Playstation 2, I feel I know enough to give a decent opinion.

Since the 2003 version, the following one was, at the time, the best in the series for me. 2005 and onwards they seemed to lose the magic of the game and the controls and game play went downhill right up until 2008.

Now however, with the help of the Wii, the game has been perfected for the 2009 version. Instead of sitting on the couch and gaining weight while playing. You now have to stand up with the wii remote and take realistic swings at the ball. And just like in the real game of golf, if you don’t keep the remote straight you can end up slicing the shot and landing in the rough or even out of bounds.

The putting is much more realistic, where again you have to stand up, and similar to the caddy tip in the 2004 version you now have a putt preview – Be careful though as you only get to see it once for each putt attempt.

All in all, this is by far the best Tiger Woods video game in the series. With plenty of courses to choose from and unlock, to many side games and online play – this game will keep you entertained for years to come.
